Bespoke: The Wedding Event happened yesterday… and it was incredible! Naturally, I have to tell you all about it.
Claudia Habib of Simply Weddings contacted me in December with an idea for a wedding event (not show) unlike anything I’d heard of before. She was just in the beginning stages of planning the event, and was looking for someone to help out with the branding. I remember hanging up the phone after our initial 45 minute phone call, and yelling to Craig that I’d definitely made the right decision in launching Lupin (more about that a different day!) The way she described the event made me so excited! It was a project that I couldn’t wait to dive into and get started with.
First came the logo. We wanted something elegant, timeless, classy and was able to reflect the atmosphere of The Halifax Club, where the event took place. The Halifax Club is full of historic architecture. A grand stair case, victorian looking crown moulding and so. much. gold. The color palette was simple: Gold, White & Blue. After the logo, came the website. That was fun to work on! A simple, one-page website that explained the event and had links to everyone involved.
Over sixty collaborators came together for this event, and it showed. The Halifax Club was completely transformed into six different weddings. Each room represented a different ‘themed’ wedding. The themes included: Irish Pub, Contemporary/Rockabilly, Regal Red & Gold, Winter, Indian & Parisian. Every single room was different and unique. All the rooms included actual bride and groom models dressed to the nines with their hair and makeup done, a cake, room decor, a musician, custom stationery, favours, a florist, and lighting. The atmosphere felt as though you were at an actual wedding. There were no booths. Nobody was in your face trying to sell you something. Instead, the guests were greeted with a glass of wine and a giftbag, and the opportunity to take in everything as they pleased, and were able to ask any questions they had to the vendors that were in each room. It was such an exciting and fun experience!
Yesterday was the first time Lupin was featured in any sort of manner. Sure, we’ve been doing invitations for a little while, but this was our first event. Our first showcase. Talk about excited! Aside from the branding of the event, we were also lucky enough to do the stationery for two of the rooms. We got to make sets for the Winter Wedding and the Irish Pub wedding. This was quite possibly the most fun we’ve had designing ever. Enough about how fun it was… just take a look above!
